5 Resourceful Ways to Maximize a Small Space
   by Nina Tambal  •  Jan 29, 2019  •  General
Aching to create a better and more refreshing look for your condo?

Or perhaps you want to make the most out of your quaint new apartment?

Well, there are plenty of ways to do just that! I’ve got five awesome tips to maximize small spaces. It doesn’t matter whether you’re living on your own, with a roommate, or even your entire family.

Making sure that your home is in its best condition is a priority that will certainly benefit you.

1.   Get multi-purpose or floating furniture
Multi-purpose furniture is the best option for all condo renters. There are chairs that double as mini ladders. There are sofas that double as beds. There are even beds that double as storage.

In fact, Murphy beds have been growing in popularity for the past few years. It’s one of the best ways to save space. After all, you don’t need your bed 24 hours a day. So, a Murphy bed is rather handy, especially if you like having guests over.

Then, there’s floating furniture. You can try installing floating shelves in the living room or by the entrance of your home. Or if you want something a bit more unique, go for a floating kitchen counter.

These types of objects give the illusion that there’s more square footage in the house. And also, it actually gives you more space to walk on.

2.   Reduce clutter and organize
This is your chance to utilize the Marie Kondo method. There’s no better way to maximize the small space that you’ve got than by reducing mess in and around it!

All those clothes you have stacked up in that one corner or chair in the room? It’s about time that you pick them up and sort them out. All those books, magazines, pens, and notebooks scattered in the living room?

They have to be organized in one shelf or container. And all those pots and pans left in a disarray in one of your kitchen cabinets? Their arrangement needs some re-evaluating.

Speaking as a messy person, I know that cleaning the house and rearranging everything can be tedious. But even someone like me gets a sense of relief once I’ve done the task.

It doesn’t have to be the most organized collection of objects in the world. Just having adequate and visible space around you can be pleasant for both the body and the mind.

3.   Add a house plant or two
Believe it or not, house plants brighten or revitalize a certain place no matter how big or small. And the beauty of it is that some, if not most, house plants can be hung in your apartment.

It clearly doesn’t take up much space and adds color to your interiors. If you’d rather not get hanging plants, you can always opt for an elegant white orchid or an adorable small succulent!

4.   Start hanging and match it up
Hanging rods will forever be useful in a condo. Or any other home for that matter. This is mainly because you avoid dumping personal items, such as bags, belts, and clothes, in your boudoir or couch.

Instead, you can just hang them up the minute you get home. Which equals to more space in your apartment.

Another useful tip I’d like to give is for your hangers in your closet. Match it up in order to make more room. If you have various different styled hangers, it will definitely take up more space than when you have the same designed hangers.

5.   Arrange and rearrange
This is one way to get your creative juices flowing and test your eye for interior design.

If you’re just moving in to a new place, you have the chance to arrange your furniture and also rearrange it however you’d like. If you’re a tenant that’s simply getting a bit tired or bored of the way your furniture’s placed at home, this is your golden opportunity to spice it up.

Such a task allows you to see every possible angle of your condo like never before. Which is why I highly recommend doing it!
