Essential Items Every Working Gal Needs in Their Condo
   by Nina Tambal  •  Mar 08, 2019  •  General
Are you a working girl that’s just left the mother’s nest?

Or are you a long-running independent gal that’s in dire need of a checklist of apartment essentials?

Besides rudimentary furniture like the bed and couch, I’ve got a list for you that may come in handy!

Here are five items that will prove to be valuable arsenals in any woman’s apartment.

1. A set of kitchen appliances
Let’s face it.

One of our basic needs as human beings is food. So, it’s only practical to have everything you need in the kitchen.

A decent frying pan set, an electric kettle, and a microwave.

The frying pan set will be vital when you need to cook a meal of your own at home (instead of eating out or ordering fast food deliveries, which admittedly cuts your budget in half).

The electric kettle is for your very own (instant) coffee in the morning.

And of course, the microwave is to heat up your leftovers from your previous culinary endeavor, whether it’s a simple takeout or a creation of your own.

2. A laundry hamper
All that work in the office equates to a pile of dirty clothes.

So, where else are you going to properly put them than in a laundry hamper? Prevent the habit of throwing clothes on the couch or that lone chair in the corner.

Besides, when laundry day comes around, you will be able to have all your garments in one place. Makes it easier for you to sort everything out and go through the laundry process smoothly.

3. A shower storage
I don’t mean to be stereotypical when I say this, but most (not all) of the time, girls tend to have more toiletries to worry about than guys.

This is why I highly recommend having a proper shower storage for your bathroom!

Get your shampoo, conditioner, soap/shower gel, feminine wash, loofah, and face towel organized, so that you don’t have to scramble around your shower when you need a certain item.

4. A broom and dustpan
This is, in my opinion, a very Filipino item.

Plenty of dust will gather in your apartment. That is a fact of life. Unfortunately, there have been zero inventions to get rid of them easily and quickly.

If we were living in a first world country, I would happily say “get a vacuum!” But if you’re trying to keep your budget intact, a broom and dustpan will do when you have your weekly (or monthly, if you’re busy) condo clean-ups.

When you’ve managed to save enough money, you can get a vacuum or better, a dehumidifier. If you hate cleaning, a dehumidifier is your best bet.

5. A full-length mirror
How are you going to check your appearance before leaving for work without a full-length mirror?

It also helps that they’re usually not that expensive. Unless you really want an extravagant mirror that will make you feel like you’re living your soap opera fantasy.

If you can’t really be bothered to get a full-length one, then a bathroom mirror will do. You can at least have a “tinga” check before heading out.

And a motivational self-talk in front of isn’t too bad either.

Final thoughts
Welcome to the real world!

Where you’re given the chance to rely on nothing but yourself.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt to seek advice or ask for a little help from loved ones every now and then.

But a huge part of becoming an adult (or if you’re a millennial, “adulting”) is making big decisions, knowing your responsibilities, and taking care of yourself.

So, what are you waiting for? Let your metaphorical wings fly high with some of these essential items every independent gal needs!
